Short answer: The village cafes are fine with a pram — King Arthur's Cafe and Charlie's both work. The castle itself is genuinely unsuitable: steep steps, a bridge and no pram access. Plan the village and skip the castle, or take a carrier.
Tintagel village is on flat-ish ground. The castle is not, and that distinction matters a lot with a baby.
On Atlantic Road, dog-friendly, with good vegan and vegetarian options and friendly staff. The practical choice, and close to where you'll park.
In a 14th-century cottage on Fore Street — characterful, which also means small. Works outside peak times. Closed Sundays.
Small, with a little outdoor seating area, and genuinely welcoming with dogs and children. Cash only, which is worth knowing.
By the castle entrance, handy after the walk. But see the warning below before planning around the castle itself.
Cornish cafes are mostly small, old buildings on narrow streets. Very few have dedicated play areas. What matters more, and what's worth checking before you commit:
The practical approach: phone ahead if it matters. Cornish cafes are small enough that the person answering will know exactly what they can offer, and they'd rather tell you than have you arrive with a pram and nowhere to put it.
Between about 8:30am and 10:30am, most Cornish cafes are genuinely quiet and staff have time. From midday to 2pm in season, the same cafe can be standing room only with buggies queuing outside.
If you have a choice, go early. You'll get the corner table, the high chair, and space to put a baby down — none of which will be available at one o'clock in August.
Tintagel Castle involves a steep descent, a footbridge and a great many steps. It is not suitable for a pram in any meaningful sense. With a baby, either use a carrier and accept it's hard work, or enjoy the village and the coast path and skip the castle entirely. Rocky Valley nearby is a gentler walk.
