Short answer: Truro is inland, but there are beaches within 6 to 12 miles. The nearest is Loe Beach on the Fal, about 6 miles. For the sea: Porthtowan (about 8 miles, surf) or Portreath (about 9 miles, with a tidal pool and parking by the sand). Carne, on the Roseland, is the quiet one.
