2 Princes Street, town centre. 4.2 from 961 Google reviews. The most popular chippy in town. Reviewers praise thick cod in crispy batter, a good mix of crunchy and fluffy chips, and fair prices. It's takeaway, and the queue can be 20 minutes or more on a busy evening, so go early or late. Google lists: daily from 12pm, to 9pm (9:30pm Friday and Saturday).
9 Princes Street, town centre. 4.0 from 58 reviews. Everything is cooked to order, so expect about ten minutes' wait, but reviewers say it's worth it: double-fried chips, regular and spicy curry sauce, pineapple fritters, and cheaper than its neighbours. There's a clean seating area at no extra charge. Google lists: daily from 12pm, to 8:30pm (9pm Friday and Saturday).
Crooklets Beach. 4.4 from almost 1,600 reviews. A big beach café rather than a pure chippy, but its fish and chips get plenty of praise, with fast service even when it's busy and a children's play park next door. You queue to order at peak times. Google lists: 10am–3pm Monday to Thursday, 10am–6pm Friday to Sunday.
Wooda Farm Holiday Park, Poughill, about 2 miles out. 4.6 from 22 reviews. Evening-only takeaway on a holiday park, with crispy beer batter and homemade tartare sauce. Reviewers have had gluten-free fish and chips here and say staff were clear about it. Order by phone or app and collect. Google lists: 5pm–7:30pm, closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Visit Bude's chippy comparison lists five takeaways, and it is the only place we have found that puts prices side by side. These are its figures for a regular cod and a regular portion of chips. They come from its Best Chippy vote, so prices will have moved a little since: use them to compare, not to budget.
