Short answer: Boscastle has three proper pubs. The Cobweb Inn by the bridge is a 350-year-old former warehouse with real ales, home-made food and live music on Saturdays. The Napoleon Inn, a steep walk up at the top of the village, is the food pub locals rate highest. The Wellington by the harbour is a 16th-century coaching inn with the Long Bar. All three welcome dogs.
A five-storey, 350-year-old building by the bridge that was a warehouse, corn mill and bottling plant before becoming a pub in 1947. Real ales, home-made food, live music on Saturdays, and dogs welcome. Ask for a table in the old bar rather than the newer family room. Home of the Boscastle Shanty Festival in November.
A 16th-century St Austell Brewery pub at the top of the village, with two bars, a restaurant and a beer garden. It's a steep walk up, and visitors say it's worth it: homemade pies, haddock and chips, and plenty of gluten-free choice. Food from noon to 8pm daily. Dogs welcome, except in the restaurant.
A 16th-century coaching inn by the harbour, renamed the Wellington in 1852, with the Long Bar, a creative menu and a good Sunday lunch. Dog-friendly; quiz nights get busy.
Four miles north, behind the beach, with bay views, its own car park and good-value food ordered at the bar.
