Geevor Tin Mine Visitor Guide: Tickets, Tours, Tips

2026-10-20·Cornwall

Short answer: Geevor Tin Mine at Pendeen charges £23 for adults and £14 for children aged 3 to 16 (2026 prices), with free all-day parking. It is open Sunday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and closed Saturdays. Last entry is 4pm. Hourly tours go through the Mill and underground. Dogs are welcome except underground. Allow three hours or more.

Geevor Tin Mine is a preserved tin mine on the wild coast near Pendeen, west of St Just, with mine buildings, a museum and a short walk underground. It is one of the best wet-weather days out in far west Cornwall, but it is not cheap, so here is what you get for your money.

How much are Geevor Tin Mine tickets?

Geevor's own opening times and prices page lists these 2026 admission prices, and says all-day parking is included:

A visitor's personal assistant goes free. Geevor takes 10% off for people who arrive by bus on the 4, 4a, A17 or the Lands End Coaster. If you pay with Gift Aid, Geevor says your ticket gives free admission for 12 months. Groups of ten or more get 10% off and a guided tour, and are the only visitors who need to book. Everyone else can just turn up. Details are on the Geevor opening times and prices page.

The site does not list a separate price for the underground tour, and the surface-only ticket suggests that the walk underground is included in the full price. Check at reception if you are unsure which ticket suits you.

Geevor Tin Mine opening times

Geevor is open six days a week, Sunday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. It is closed on Saturdays. Last entry to the site is 4pm. The Mill and the Wheal Mexico underground mine are open 10am to 4pm, and Geevor says there are hourly tours through the Mill and underground between those times. Geevor's page does not list holiday or seasonal closures, so check the website before a winter trip.

What is the underground tour like?

You walk through the 18th century Wheal Mexico mine, a tunnel cut by miners about two hundred years ago. Geevor says it is cool in there. Geevor does not give the tour length, age limits or step count, so we cannot promise those.

Google reviewers are split on it. One says tall people need to crouch. Another found the underground part short and shallow, and felt it was a bit of a gimmick next to the surface machinery. Our advice is to treat the tunnel as one part of a longer visit, not the whole reason to come. If you want a deeper, longer mine experience, the National Trust's Levant Mine and Beam Engine nearby runs tours that must be pre-booked through the National Trust.

Is Geevor Tin Mine worth it?

Geevor is rated 4.7 from 2,707 Google reviews. Reviewers praise the size of the site, the clear information boards and the staff. Several single out the talk in the Dry by a former miner, and one says they spent five hours there and still missed things. The café gets good comments for sea views and for vegan and gluten free options. The main complaint is price. One reviewer paid £37 for a parent and a three year old, and said the underground part did not justify it.

It suits families with school age children, mining history fans and anyone who wants a rainy day plan. Geevor says all activities for children and families are free with the entrance ticket. It is less good for very young children who will not tolerate a long walk between buildings.

Where to park at Geevor

Geevor says all-day car parking is free for visitors. There is an accessible toilet in the car park as well as in reception and the Hard Rock Museum. If you are coming by bus, see the discount above.

Can you take dogs to Geevor?

Yes, with one big exception. Geevor's accessibility guide says dogs are welcome across most of the site but not underground. Assistance dogs are allowed everywhere. Water bowls are available at several points, including outside reception and at the café and shop. If you have a dog and want the tunnel, one adult will have to wait outside with it, so plan for taking turns.

How long do you need at Geevor?

Geevor does not give a recommended time. Given a reviewer's five hours and the size of the site, allow at least three hours, and more if you want the talk, the Hard Rock Museum and lunch. You will want that extra time because the entry price covers the whole day.

Is Geevor accessible and good in the rain?

Geevor's accessibility guide says the Hard Rock Museum has a lift, and the shop and café has a lift platform whose button is outside it, so a second person is needed to operate it. Geevor can arrange alternative café access for long wheelchairs. There are three accessible toilets and plenty of places to sit. The guide does not describe the ground, so ask before you come if mobility is a worry.

Much of the site is outside, so wrap up for a windy day, but the museum, café, shop and Mill give you shelter.
