Tintagel Castle's entry fee is the one genuine cost that can push a Tintagel day over budget, but skip it and the rest of the village and coastline here cost remarkably little to enjoy properly.
Tintagel Bridge View, a free clifftop viewpoint, gives genuinely stunning views of the castle's famous bridge without paying for entry — a short, easy fifteen-minute walk that costs nothing at all.
Tintagel's high street, built around cream teas and Cornish gift shops, costs nothing to wander, and North Shore Gallery and Jo Downs Handmade Glass are both free to browse even without buying.
The walk out towards St Materiana's Church along Glebe Cliff is free, relatively flat, and gives a proper coastal outing without needing to pay for the castle to get a sense of the dramatic scenery Tintagel's known for.
The Cornish Bakery does a reliable pasty or pastry for around £5, and eating it somewhere along the high street or at Bridge View costs nothing extra.
King Arthur's Cafe's specifically praised salted caramel ice cream runs a few pounds and makes a nice way to close the day without spending much.
Bridge View, the high street, and Glebe Cliff: free. Lunch: roughly £5 a head. Ice cream: a few pounds more. Skipping the castle entirely, a family of four can genuinely do a full day here for well under £30.
