Most Cornish beach towns fall apart in the rain. Hayle doesn't, for one simple reason: it has an actual indoor play centre attached to an actual wildlife park. Add a farm restaurant and some between-showers options and a wet day here plans itself.
Paradise Park is Hayle's family flagship — a wildlife sanctuary known for its parrots and red squirrels — and JungleBarn is its indoor play barn: slides, climbing, the full soft-play works, with seating for the adults. On a wet day this is where every local family with small children is heading, so mornings are calmer than afternoons, and it's worth checking session times and booking arrangements before you set off rather than at the gate. The park itself has enough covered and indoor animal areas to be worthwhile in light rain, with penguin and otter feeding times punctuating the day — check the day's schedule on arrival.
The King George V Memorial Walk along Copperhouse Pool is Hayle's secret weapon for a broken-weather day: flat, surfaced, pram-and-scooter friendly, with the tidal pool's birdlife alongside. Twenty dry minutes is all it needs. If a real gap opens, the beach is three miles of hard low-tide sand and puddle-stamping heaven in wellies.
