The Angarrack Christmas Lights: How to See Hayle's Famous Village Display Without the Parking Pain

Short answer: Angarrack's lights go on at the start of December and run to New Year; wander the village lanes to find all twelve days of Christmas. The village has no parking — park in Hayle or at the Angarrack Inn's overflow if it's offered and walk in, and go early evening on a weekday to avoid the queue.

What it is

Angarrack is a small village tucked into the valley on the edge of Hayle, under the railway viaduct, and every December the whole place lights up: the Twelve Days of Christmas told in illuminated displays along the lanes, the viaduct lit, houses decorated, a nativity, reindeer to count. It's run by the village for the village and it's become one of the best-known Christmas displays in Cornwall, drawing coach trips and a steady stream of cars every evening.

2026 dates: not yet announced — the switch-on is usually a Saturday at the very start of December, lights on nightly until around New Year's Day. We update this line the moment organisers confirm.

Parking: the whole problem

Angarrack has one narrow road in and out and no car park. On busy evenings the lane gridlocks and residents, understandably, are fed up. The village asks visitors to park in Hayle and walk — Hayle Railway Station or the Foundry Square Car Park Hayle are twenty minutes on foot, and there's a footpath from the Loggans Moor roundabout that's quicker. If you must drive, go on a weekday before 6:30pm, and be prepared to wait. The Angarrack Inn is the only building of any size and gets busy.

A plan that works

1. Park in Hayle around 4:30pm on a weekday.
2. Walk in as the light goes; the lights look best in the twenty minutes after dark.
3. Do the lanes slowly — count the reindeer, find the partridge, the twelve drummers are the finale.
4. Angarrack Inn for a drink if there's room, or back to Hayle for food.

With children and dogs

Perfect for both — flat lanes, no traffic if you've walked in, lights at child height. Torches for the walk from Hayle. Dogs on leads; the lanes are shared with cars.
