Short answer: Adrenalin Quarry for older children and teenagers, Porfell Wildlife Park for younger ones, Carnglaze Caverns for anyone who likes the idea of an underground lake. The Cheesewring is the free option.
Liskeard's surroundings are genuinely well suited to children, and the range covers a wide age spread.
Zip wire, giant swing, go-karting and an aqua park in a flooded slate quarry. Genuinely well run, with free lockers, warm showers and a fairly priced café. Best for older children and teenagers.
A smaller rescue sanctuary rather than a big zoo, with animals visibly well cared for. Narrow lanes to get there, but it's calmer and less overwhelming than the bigger parks — good for younger children.
An underground lake in a former slate mine. Around thirty minutes through the caverns, with woodland gardens and a wishing tree above.
A steep climb from the free Minions car park to an extraordinary natural rock stack. Children tend to love the scramble, and the views at the top are the reward.
Shallow pools children can paddle in, woodland to explore, and a river to follow. Bring proper shoes; the paths are rooty.
Adrenalin Quarry has genuine minimum age and height requirements for the zip wire and swing, so check before promising anything to a younger child. Porfell and Carnglaze suit a wider age range without restrictions.
