Done right, it's not the consolation prize; it's the more Padstow way to eat.
Padstow's lunch crush is half twelve to two, driven by the car park filling behind it. Eat at half eleven or half two and even the popular counters are calm. If the quay is heaving, walk five minutes along the Camel Trail — the crowd thins to nothing and the estuary view improves.
