Short answer: Falmouth sees in the New Year with fireworks over the harbour at midnight, fired from Pendennis Castle when the display began. For 2026 the venues listed include the Greenbank Hotel's gala dinner and house party, The Working Boat's four-course dinner and The Stable's cider flights. How to read this page. New Year's Eve 2026 is Thursday 31 December. We mark what an organiser has published for 2026 and what is last year's pattern. Fireworks times and venues are usually confirmed in December, so check the organiser before you travel.
Falmouth's official New Year's Eve fireworks began in 2017, when the Royal Duchy Hotel sponsored the first display. It is fired from Pendennis Castle, which is not open to spectators, and because the castle sits on a high headland it can be seen from the seafront and the harbour side. The display is at midnight. We have not found a 2026 timetable from the Town Council, so treat midnight as the pattern.
Anywhere with a clear view across the harbour towards the castle headland works. The seafront and the harbourside are the natural spots, and the pubs and restaurants on the waterfront fill early, so arrive by 11pm if you want a view. Wrap up: the wind off the harbour is colder than the town.

Car parks fill on a busy night. Our Falmouth parking guide covers the options. The best plan is to stay in town, because taxis are hard to find after midnight on New Year's Eve.
