Newquay Fireworks Night: Where to Watch and Park

Short answer: Three options: the council's free display (the classic family one), the ticketed NQY Fireworks at Newquay Sports Centre with bars, food and a funfair (the big night out), and Newquay Fun Park's free display among the rides. All fall on or around the first weekend of November. Park early or walk — the sports centre roads jam.

Newquay Town Council's free display

The town's own, put on annually by the council and free to watch. It's the traditional family night — turn up, find a spot, watch, go home. The venue and time are confirmed by the council each autumn; recent years have been early evening on or around the 5th. Wrap up: the wind off the sea is the main event.

NQY Fireworks at the sports centre

The big ticketed one at Newquay Sports Centre on Tretherras Road — live music, a beer festival during the day, eight or so bars, a dozen food vendors, an inflatable funfair, a giant screen and one of the largest displays in the county, usually on the Saturday nearest the 5th with fireworks around 8pm. Tickets from a few pounds, VIP balconies more. It's a proper night out and older children love it; it's loud, busy and late for under-5s.

Newquay Fun Park

Newquay Fun Park at Trenance does a free display with the rides open at a token price, toasted marshmallows and a scare maze — gates around 6:30pm, fireworks around 8:30pm. Free entry, and a good compromise if you want rides and fireworks without the sports-centre crowd.

2026 dates: all three are usually announced in October for the first weekend of November; the council confirms its venue and time on its website. We update this line the moment organisers confirm.

Parking

• Sports centre: the roads around Tretherras jam from 6pm. Park in town and walk (15 minutes), or arrive before 5:30pm.
• Fun Park: Trenance Gardens Car Park and the boating lake car park fill; walk from the station.
• Council display: depends on the venue — check when it's announced.

With children

The Fun Park is the sweet spot for 5–10s. For toddlers, Lappa Valley's fireworks night ten minutes away — arrive by steam train, fireworks at 7:30pm — is gentler and earlier, but sells out. Dogs: none of these. Our Newquay guide has where to eat first.
