Truro's traditional Bonfire Night is at Tremorvah Playing Field on the 5th itself: a big bonfire, a fireworks display, food stalls and a crowd that's mostly families from the city. Gates open early evening, the bonfire is lit first and the fireworks follow — it runs to a sensible bedtime. Modest entry on the gate, run by local volunteers for local causes.

The football club at the Truro City Stadium at Langarth runs a Bonfire Night with a difference: a National League match at 3pm, several bars and food outlets before and after, and a fireworks finale after the final whistle. Nearly 3,000 came last year. It's the grown-up option — long, lively, and a good one with teenagers.

Tremorvah for anything under 10 — earlier, smaller, and you're home by nine. The stadium event for older ones. Dogs: neither; Coverack's low-noise beach bonfire on the Lizard is the county's dog-tolerant one.
