Beaches in Newquay With Easy Flat Access and Parking

2026-08-13·Newquay

Not every Newquay beach suits a pushchair or wheelchair — several involve steps or a steep path down. Here's where genuinely flat, close access actually exists.

Towan Beach

Central, with parking close by and a genuinely gentle slope down rather than steps — the most straightforward flat access in town.

Great Western Beach

Flat and sandy with reasonably close parking, and quieter than the more famous surf beaches, which suits a slower visit.

Where to avoid if flat access matters

Tolcarne and Little Fistral both involve steep steps or paths down — genuinely lovely beaches, but not ones to plan around if mobility or a pushchair is the priority.

Parking specifically

Central car parks near Towan fill first on a sunny day — arriving before 9:30am gives the best chance of parking close enough that the flat access actually matters.

What to expect underfoot

Even the flattest access points can have a short stretch of looser sand near the entrance before firming up — worth knowing if you're managing a heavier wheelchair rather than a pushchair.

A note on facilities

Both Towan and Great Western have genuinely reasonable toilet and café facilities close by, which matters more for a longer, accessible visit than a quick stop.
