Short answer: Pendennis Castle in Falmouth holds Halloween half-term activities every day from 24 October to 1 November 2026, 10am to 4pm. Expect ghoulish games at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm, storytelling at 11am and 2pm, a devilish disco at 11.30am and 2.30pm, and a fancy dress competition at noon. It is included in castle admission, and members enter free.
Pendennis Castle in Falmouth runs a Halloween half-term programme from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, between 10am and 4pm each day. The activities are included in the castle's normal admission, which makes it one of the better-value spooky days out for families in west Cornwall.
English Heritage lists the event for 24 October to 1 November 2026, 10am to 4pm daily. It is pitched at families with young children. Pendennis Castle has 4.6 from 4,964 Google reviews, and its Google listing shows opening 10am to 5pm.
English Heritage describes family activities, interactive storytelling, spooky games, a themed trail, a seasonal selfie spot and a daily fancy dress competition. The scheduled times are:
If you only have a couple of hours, aim to arrive for the 10.30am games and stay through the 11am story and the 11.30am disco. Children in costume can enter the noon competition, and a reasonable approach is to dress them for a draughty, hilltop castle, with a coat that can hide a costume.
The event is included with general admission, and English Heritage members get in free. Booking early saves 15% on tickets bought in advance, according to the booking page. The page we read did not show adult and child prices, so check the current price on the English Heritage site before you set out. To book, choose your date and number of tickets, and members should log in to claim free tickets. Bring your confirmation or membership card.
The event page does not say. Dogs are generally allowed in the grounds at Pendennis, but check the rules for the indoor areas and the event activities. Our dogs at Pendennis Castle guide covers the usual rules.
There is a car park at the top of the hill, close to the castle entrance. In half-term week the castle gets busy by late morning, so a 10am arrival means less queueing for the first session. Our Pendennis Point parking and views guide has details, and the Pendennis Castle visitor guide explains what else there is to see. The castle sits on an exposed headland, so wrap up.
Our October half-term in Falmouth guide lists the other options in town, and the Halloween in Cornwall 2026 guide covers events across the county. If it rains, use the Falmouth rainy day guide. For parking in town, see the Falmouth parking guide. The Falmouth town page has more.
Two of the big autumn events follow in November, with Falmouth's Cornwall Film Festival week from 16 to 22 November and the Christmas lights on 26 November. Our Falmouth gardens in winter guide gives you a calmer alternative after half term ends.
Allow two to three hours if you want to catch two or three of the timed sessions and see the castle itself. Reviewers praise the underground tunnels, the Half Moon Battery with its big guns and the exhibition upstairs in the 1901 barracks building, so the Halloween programme can sit alongside a normal visit. There is a cafe, although one reviewer found it crowded on a hot summer day with nowhere to sit, so half-term lunchtime may be similar. Bring a snack or eat in Falmouth before or after.
The best-value route is to arrive at opening, do the trail and the 10.30am games, catch the 11am story, then leave before the lunchtime rush. If you are a member, you can drop in for a single session and come back another day.
English Heritage says the main car park on Castle Drive has no parking charge. There is a 2.1 metre height barrier, so tall vans and roof boxes may not fit. Use TR11 4NQ for satnav. Accessible parking inside the grounds is limited and first come, first served (use TR11 4LP), and visitors with mobility concerns can be dropped off at the castle gates.
That 20% discount is separate from the early booking saving mentioned above, so decide which suits you. Our Pendennis Point parking guide and Falmouth parking guide cover other options. Last entry to the castle is at 4pm.
Yes to both, going by English Heritage's visitor information. The Halloween event page itself does not mention dogs, but the castle's own page says all dogs on a lead are welcome, including inside the buildings and around the grounds. There is outside seating at the cafe. Our dogs at Pendennis Castle guide has more. If you are in costume with a dog, remember that the Halloween games and disco may be loud for a nervous dog.
Pushchairs: they are allowed and English Heritage describes the ground as mostly flat. There are steps in the Castle Keep and some other areas, so a baby carrier is easier if you want to see inside. Toilets with baby changing are at the rear of the shop and on the first floor of the Royal Artillery Barrack Block.
Little ones: there is a small soft play area and a Castle Explorers trail on the English Heritage page, though there is no outdoor play area. The grounds have large lawns, which is useful for children who need to run off energy between sessions. Smoking, vaping, barbecues and naked flames are not allowed, and drones are banned.
The castle tearoom is in the Royal Garrison Artillery Barracks. English Heritage lists gluten-free and dairy-free options, high chairs, child-sized portions and bottle warming on request. Pendennis Castle Restaurant is rated 4.5 from 113 Google reviews, and reviewers praise the portions and the views, including pasties, fish and chips and cream teas. Half-term lunchtimes are the busiest, so go early or late.
