Where to Watch the Sunset in Port Isaac

Short answer: Castle Rock, a clifftop viewpoint a short easy walk from the main road just outside the village, has the spectacular sunset views — no steep descent needed. For a drink with it, the Golden Lion's sea-view terrace over the harbour.

Castle Rock is a clifftop viewpoint just outside the village with genuinely spectacular sunset views over Port Isaac Bay — and, crucially for this steep village, it's a short, easy walk from the main road. With a drink or dinner

• The Golden Lion — the harbourside pub's sea-view terrace; evening light on the harbour and the Platt below.
• Pilchards at Port Gaverne — the Michelin-recommended cove restaurant next door, with harbour and sea views.
• The VIEW — the little coffee and ice cream shop just outside the village; earlier-evening, seasonal hours.

The walkers' version

The coast path climbs out both ways from the village, and the headlands deliver the full show — but they're steep and the return is in the dark. Boots and a torch, or stick to Castle Rock.

Timing it: sunset falls around 7pm in mid-September, drifts towards 6pm through October, then jumps to around 4:45pm when the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October. Arrive twenty minutes early — the colour often peaks just after the sun has gone.
