Marazion is a place people eat outdoors with the castle in view, and a cream tea is the obvious order. Three ways to do it, depending on how much ceremony you want.
The Secret Tea Garden is exactly that — tucked off the Square, easy to walk past, with a sunny terrace of picnic benches under parasols looking out to the sea. The scones are fresh, the cream is proper, and if you're hungry the loaded fries and toasties are better than a tea garden needs to be. Closed Fridays and Saturdays, which is a nuisance, and it's small, so arrive before three on a busy day.
Philps Bakery on Market Place does takeaway cream teas alongside its pasties. Carry it fifty yards to the wall above the beach and eat it looking at the Mount — the cheapest sea-view table in Cornwall. Closed Sundays. If you'd rather a cake with your coffee, The Copper Spoon up the road bakes the best in the village, takeaway only.
Harbour Loft is the restaurant on St Michael's Mount, and afternoon tea there is booked as part of a Mount visit — in 2026 it comes with garden or castle admission depending on the date. Views over the harbour, unlimited tea, and a mixed reputation for value: some people think it's the best afternoon tea they've had, others that it's ordinary at Mount prices. Book it for the setting, not the scones. Closed Saturdays with the castle.
The Cabin at Perranuthnoe does a very good cream tea on the beach, two miles east, and is open every day.
