Short answer: Golitha Falls, the Cheesewring and the Hurlers are all completely free, including parking. Add a market breakfast in town and you've got a full day for the price of lunch.
Liskeard is unusually good on a budget, because the genuinely spectacular things nearby happen to be free.
Liskeard Market Cafe does a full market breakfast — three bacon, three sausages and the lot — on hot plates, at a price that reviewers repeatedly call exceptional. Don't judge it by the exterior.
A National Nature Reserve on the River Fowey with woodland walks alongside falls and clear pools. Free entry, free parking, toilets on site. Easily a couple of hours, more with a picnic.
Three Bronze Age stone circles on open moorland with wild ponies grazing, and a short steep climb to an extraordinary natural rock stack with sweeping views. Free parking at Minions for both.
Bean in town does scones the owner bakes herself, at prices that suit a budget day. Or take a picnic to Golitha and spend nothing at all.
Adrenalin Quarry, Carnglaze Caverns and The Story of Emily are all genuinely good, but all cost real money. Save them for a different day.
Breakfast in town first, Golitha Falls mid-morning while the car park is still manageable, then up to Minions for the Hurlers and the Cheesewring in the afternoon when the light on the moor is better. All three car parks are free.
