2026-10-20·Mevagissey

Short answer: The Lost Gardens of Heligan lists adult tickets at £28.20, children aged 5 to 17 at £10, and students at £15.70, with under-5s free. It is open 10am to 5pm with last entry at 3.30pm until 31 October. Allow at least four hours. Dogs are welcome all year. A limited number of free parking spaces are in the main car park.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a restored Victorian estate near Mevagissey and Pentewan, with productive gardens, a Jungle valley, woodland walks and a children's area. It is rated 4.5 from 15,073 Google reviews. This guide covers prices, parking, dogs and the steep bits.

How much are Lost Gardens of Heligan tickets?

Heligan's ticket prices page lists:

Heligan says it does not offer a discounted seniors' rate, and tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the gardens close for extreme weather. The page mentions reduced-price general tickets for a summer period (25 June to 1 September), so confirm the price for your date on the Heligan ticket prices page. Pre-booking is advisable for day visitors. Heligan also sells annual memberships and Locals' Passes, but we could not read those prices.

What are the Heligan opening times?

Heligan's opening times page showed 10am to 5pm every day from 20 to 31 October, with last entry at 3.30pm. The exception is Tuesday 27 October, a relaxed session when the gardens open at 10.30am. The page describes the gardens as open daily but showed no hours for 1 November, and we could not find winter hours, so check before you go. For the evening events see Heligan Night Garden 2026 and Halloween at Heligan.

Where do you park at Heligan?

Heligan says a limited number of free spaces are available in its main car park, allocated first come first served, so arriving early helps. There is also an overflow car park managed by an ANPR system since 2025, with charges. The car parking page gives no amounts. The general FAQ lists overflow field charges of free for up to an hour, £2.50 for one to two hours, £3.50 all day until 18.30 and £2.50 in the evening (17.30 to 23.00), plus a £20 season ticket valid until 31 October. As that FAQ looks older than the car parking page, treat those figures as a guide only. Heligan says it wants to offer free parking to everyone but has not committed to a date.

You can also get there without a car from the harbour: our guide to the Mevagissey to Heligan walk, cycle or bus covers the options, and the Mevagissey town page lists places to eat afterwards. See Mevagissey parking if you leave the car in the village.

How long do you need at Heligan?

Heligan suggests a minimum of four hours to "get a taste of the Northern Gardens, the Jungle and the Hide." Reviewers mention children spending over two hours in the adventure playground alone, so a family day can easily fill the afternoon. Lunch uses produce from the Productive Gardens and meat from the wider estate.

Can you take dogs to Heligan?

Yes. Heligan says "we welcome dogs and well-behaved owners all year." The detailed rules are on a separate Dogs at Heligan page, which we have not quoted. Our guide to dogs at the Lost Gardens of Heligan has more.

Is Heligan accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs?

Partly. About 13 acres are reachable by even paths, including the Productive Gardens, Pleasure Grounds and Home Farm. Manual wheelchairs are free to borrow from Visitor Reception on a first come basis. Mobility scooters (Trampers) can be hired through Countryside Mobility: membership is £15 a year, £5 for a two-week taster or £3 for single use, plus £7.50 per half day. Users must be accompanied. We did not find a pushchair loan.

The Jungle and Wider Estate are another matter. Heligan describes the paths there as "very steep," with some boardwalks and steps, and asks wheelchair users and anyone unsteady on their feet not to enter them. The gardens slope gently downhill, so the return is uphill. Visitors with qualifying documents (such as PIP, DLA, Attendance Allowance or a Blue Badge) get one free companion ticket.

Is Heligan worth it?

For a garden lover or a family with children who like to explore, yes. The Jungle with its rope bridge is the part most reviewers rate highest, and a Google reviewer in August 2026 said it felt less crowded than the Eden Project. The price does put some people off: a few reviewers say £28 is a lot unless you go to the Jungle. Go on a dry day, because much of it is outdoors and the paths are muddy after rain. Our guide to easy access days out near St Austell lists indoor and flatter alternatives, and our Eden Project visitor guide compares the other big day out nearby.
