Short answer: Two adults can do Mevagissey for about £50 by sticking to the free harbour walk, aquarium (in season) and museum, then spending on parking, a pasty, a cream tea and an ice cream. Council car parks cap at 3 hours and £3.40. Heligan at £28.20 an adult does not fit for two, but its Universal Credit rate is £5.
A Mevagissey day out for £50 or less is easy because the best bits cost nothing: the harbour, the aquarium in season, a walk round the harbour wall and the beaches round the headland. The money goes on food and parking. The council parking prices below are official. The food prices are what reviewers report paying, so they are allowances, not menu prices, and you should glance at the boards when you arrive.
Cornwall Council's short-stay River Street car park (50 spaces) and Church Street car park (11 spaces) charge from 9am to 4pm: 60p for up to half an hour, £1.30 for up to an hour, £2.50 for up to two hours and £3.40 for up to three. Three hours is the maximum stay, and both are free between 4pm and 9am. A full day therefore means a different car park, such as the harbour car park, whose own page lists about 60 spaces but no prices, so check the machine. In the sums below we put £10 aside for parking as an allowance. Our parking guide compares the car parks. If you only want an evening pint and a harbour walk, arriving after 4pm at a council car park costs nothing.
These are allowances, rounded up from what reviewers say they paid, so treat them as a guide.
That totals about £48, which leaves a little for a crabbing line. If parking turns out cheaper, you have room for a milkshake from The Blue Hut on Jetty Street. For a full rundown of the cones, see best ice cream in Mevagissey.
Mevagissey Model Railway on Meadow Street is listed at around £5 for adults on third-party guides, with children cheaper and under-fives free. One guide gives opening as March to November, so check before a winter visit. Reviews are split: some say it is great for young children with buttons to press, while others found many models not running. It is the one paid attraction in the village that fits a £50 family day, but it is not essential.
Not at standard prices for two adults. The Lost Gardens of Heligan lists adult tickets at £28.20, children aged 5 to 17 at £10, under-fives free and students at £15.70. One adult and one child is £38.20, which uses most of the budget before lunch, and two adults would be £56.40 before parking. Heligan also lists a Universal Credit and Pension Credit rate of £5 per adult and £1 per child, for the recipient and up to five household members, with proof shown on arrival. That brings a family of four to £12. Another option is the Night Garden on selected evenings from 13 November 2026 to 2 January 2027, where adults are £23.60 and children aged 3 to 16 are £14.20. Two adults would be £47.20, so there is nothing left for food. The official ticket page has current prices, and our Mevagissey to Heligan guide explains the walk.
For a free version, combine the aquarium in season, a crabbing session on a quiet quay, and a stroll on the Pentewan Valley Trail. The St Austell tourism site describes the trail as flat and mostly hard surfaced, around 3.5 miles end to end. At Pentewan Beach the holiday park behind it owns the beach, so it sets the rules on dogs and parking. 360 Cornwall lists dogs there in winter only, so ask the park before bringing one. Parking is paid, in the village or at the holiday park. More beach choices are in best beaches near Mevagissey.
Not at this time of year. The Mevagissey to Fowey ferry runs from May to early October, and its timetable page lists no winter sailings and no fares. It also says the ferry does not run in bad weather. Look at the operator's pages next season before you plan around it. See our ferry guide.

Yes. The harbour walk is free, the aquarium is free with a donation in season and the museum is listed as free. Allow roughly £5 for a pasty, £7 for a cream tea and £4 for an ice cream each, based on what reviewers report, plus parking.
Cornwall Council's River Street and Church Street car parks charge 60p for 30 minutes up to £3.40 for 3 hours, from 9am to 4pm, and are free from 4pm to 9am. The maximum stay is 3 hours.
The harbour site says entry is free but a donation is appreciated. It is open daily 10am to 6pm from late May to the end of October, so it is shut in winter.
The harbour site lists free admission, and a third-party guide says donations are welcome, but a reviewer paid £2. It is seasonal, so check it is open.
Not for two adults at standard prices: adults are £28.20 and children aged 5 to 17 are £10, so one adult and one child is £38.20. Heligan lists £5 per adult and £1 per child for people on Universal Credit or Pension Credit, with proof.
