Short answer: Treyarnon Bay has a pay car park just above the beach, a 5 minute walk from the sand, which fills early in summer. A natural pool in the north rocks refills with every tide. RNLI lifeguards patrol daily 10am to 6pm from 2 May to 27 September 2026. Dogs are allowed all year. Toilets are at the top of the beach.
Treyarnon Bay is a north-west facing cove a few miles from Padstow, with a sandy beach, rock pools and a natural swimming pool among the rocks at the north end. It suits families who like rock pooling and surfers who want something quieter than Newquay. The car park is close, but the pool and tide need a bit of care.
There is a pay car park just above the beach, according to Cornish Rock Pools, and a 360 Cornwall listing says charges apply and it can fill up quickly, so arrive early at peak times. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from it. We could not find a current price, so check the machine on arrival. Treyarnon, Constantine and Harlyn are all within a few minutes of each other by car, which helps if one car park is full. See our Padstow summer parking guide for the wider picture.
There is a natural one. Cornish Rock Pools describes a semi-natural pool high on the northern rocks that is refilled with sea water at every tide. Proper Cornwall says it is not a formal tidal pool but a natural pool among the rocks at the north end that can be swum in. Neither source gives its size, depth or the best state of the tide, and there are no lifeguards inside it, so treat it as a rock pool to paddle in rather than a lido. Keep children close, watch for slippery rock, and check the tide before you go. The rock pools on the other side are good for spotting crabs and small fish.

Yes, in season. The RNLI's Treyarnon page lists these 2026 dates, 10am to 6pm: Easter holidays (3 to 19 April), weekends on 25 and 26 April, and daily from 2 May to 27 September. The RNLI lists nothing for October, so assume no lifeguards outside those dates. No flags means no lifeguards. 360 Cornwall flags strong currents and rising and falling tides as hazards, so swim between the red and yellow flags.
Proper Cornwall says there are toilets at the top of the beach, and Cornish Rock Pools adds that they may only be open in the high season. Beachlets mentions disabled toilets nearby. A small shop sells beach gear, according to Proper Cornwall. A seasonal cafe and a restaurant are listed on 360 Cornwall, which matches the places below.
Yes. Proper Cornwall and 360 Cornwall both say dogs are allowed on the beach all year, and Cornwall Council's seasonal ban list does not include Treyarnon. Trevone, nearby, does have a summer ban from 15 May to 30 September, so do not assume the same for neighbouring beaches. See our dog-friendly beaches near Padstow guide and check any signs at the entrance.
It is popular with surfers. Proper Cornwall says the beach faces north-west and suggests mid to high tide for the best swell, and says to be careful of rips. For lessons, our guide to surf lessons near Padstow covers the schools in nearby Harlyn, Trevone and Constantine.
