What's Open in Perranporth in Winter (and What Isn't)

Short answer: The beach, the beachfront pubs and the town pubs run all year — Perranporth is a proper year-round town, not a summer resort. The surf school, ice cream stands and some cafés go seasonal.

What stays open

• The beach, every day. Three miles of sand with no council dog restriction at any time of year — see our dog beach guide — and the winter storm swells that make the seafront the best free show in town.
• The beachfront pubs. Seiners Arms at the beach entrance and The Watering Hole on the sand both trade through winter on reduced hours.
• The town pubs. The Perranporth Inn keeps a log fire going and has board games and a pool table; The Tywarnhayle does the Sunday carvery; the Bolingey Inn is the locals' winter escape a mile inland.

What closes or shrinks

• Surf lessons wind down for winter — the surf itself gets bigger and colder.

Why come anyway
