Short answer: Mostly no — but the reputation isn't invented. Newquay was Britain's stag-and-hen capital in the 2000s and its town centre still gets loud on summer weekend nights. Through the 2000s Newquay was the country's stag-and-hen destination, with the bars, the fancy dress and the late-night streets to match. The town and its licensing changed course from the 2010s, but reputations move slower than towns do — and it's still the question parents type into Google before booking.
For a family holiday, Newquay is fine — better than fine, with the best spread of beaches in Cornwall — provided you book somewhere with a bit of distance from Fore Street on a summer Saturday.
