Porthleven in Winter: What's Open, Storms and Cosy Pubs

2026-10-15·Porthleven

Short answer: Porthleven stays alive in winter more than most Cornish harbour towns. The pubs (the Ship Inn with its fire, the Atlantic and the Harbour Inn) stay open, as do the Square, Kota Kai, Ann's Pasties and the Shipyard Market. Parking at Kittos Field drops to winter rates (from £1) and is free after 4pm. Come for the storms, from a safe distance, and the Christmas lights in early December.

What's open in winter

Storms

November to February brings the big seas. Watch from high ground well back, never from the pier or harbour walls: storm watching safely.

Parking is cheaper

From 1 November, Kittos Field drops to winter prices: £1 for an hour up to £4.20 for 24 hours, and free after 4pm. Porthleven parking.

Christmas

The lights usually go on on the first Friday of December: Porthleven Christmas lights 2026.

By bus

Routes 2 and 2A run between Penzance and Helston through Porthleven; singles are capped at £3 until March 2027.
