St Agnes Day Out for £50 or Less: Free Beach and Walks

2026-10-18·St Agnes

Short answer: A St Agnes day out costs very little: Reppers Coombe car park is free from 1 November to 31 March, and the cove, the museum and the Wheal Coates walk are free, with Wheal Coates about 30 minutes on foot from the village. That leaves nearly the whole £50 for food. From April to October the cove car park is up to £4.20 for 24 hours.

St Agnes is one of the easier places in Cornwall to spend a day for little money, because most of what people come for costs nothing: the cove, the clifftop engine houses, a museum and a coast path. The money goes on parking and food, and only one of those is predictable. This is how to plan a St Agnes day out for £50 or less, with the parking and entry costs spelled out and food prices to check.

Can you really do a day out in St Agnes for £50?

Yes, easily for two adults. Out of season you can park for nothing, walk for nothing and get into the museum for nothing. That leaves almost the whole £50 for food. Current menu prices at the bakery and cafes are not published, so the costs counted here are parking and entry. Where a price comes from a reviewer rather than a menu, we say so.

Trevaunance Cove

4.8 from 1,160 Google reviews. A mix of sand and shingle with rock pools. Reviewers like it off-season, when waves are big and it is quiet. Read the Trevaunance Cove guide for tide notes.

St Agnes Museum

4.7 from 147 Google reviews, free entry. Reviewers describe mining models, surfboards, wartime displays, a VR recreation of the lost harbour and a preserved leatherback turtle. A family with a ten year old spent about 40 minutes and used the kids' activity sheet. Winter hours can change, so ring 01872 552301 before you go.

Wheal Coates

4.9 from 840 Google reviews. The National Trust countryside is open dawn to dusk, dogs are welcome under close control, and the short tin-mining walk is about 0.8 to 1 mile. From St Agnes village it takes about 30 minutes on foot via Beacon Drive, so you can walk there from the village and skip the car park fee altogether. See our Wheal Coates and Chapel Porth guide.

Trevellas Cove

4.8 from 177 Google reviews. A quieter cove with rock pools, a stream and mine ruins. Reviewers say the small car park holds about 15 cars and the lanes are narrow, with no passing places. One mentions big rocks on the way down to the beach.

What does a £0 walking day look like in winter?

  1. Park free at Reppers Coombe (from 1 November). Walk down to the cove.
  2. Wander the shore and the rock pools at low tide.
  3. Climb Quay Road into the village and spend an hour in the museum.
  4. Walk the 30 minutes to Wheal Coates via Beacon Drive and do the short loop.
  5. Return the same way before dark, which comes early in winter.

Where can you eat cheaply in St Agnes?

Picnic fillings from a shop and a pasty each will leave plenty of change. If you want one proper meal, the Cornish Pizza Company (4.7 from 360 Google reviews) does takeaway pizza in the evenings (check which days it is open), and you can eat it somewhere with a view.

Are there free things nearby worth the drive?

Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm at Penhallow has animals and a shop, and a reviewer mentions free entry. Reviewers say dogs are welcome except on the cider tour. Perranporth, a short drive north, has a huge free beach: see our Perranporth £50 day. If it pours, use our St Agnes rainy day guide.

What about summer?

From April to October parking costs money. The same plan still works: park once, walk everywhere, and use the free sights. Budget about £4.20 for Reppers Coombe and £8 if you pick the National Trust site. For more, visit the St Agnes town page.
