Where to Get the Best Ice Cream in Fowey

• Game of Cones — yes, the name is exactly the pun you think. Behind it: a generous choice of flavours, toppings and cones, plus milkshakes, fudge and homemade cakes for anyone who isn't an ice cream person.

Where to eat it

Fowey's lanes are too narrow for lingering, so walk your cone somewhere: Town Quay for the harbour traffic, the Esplanade benches for the estuary, or — best of all — the Polruan ferry, which turns a scoop into a five-minute voyage. The tiny town beaches along the Esplanade make the classic paddle-and-a-cone finish on a warm day.

Out of season

Both keep shorter hours once summer ends, and Fowey's quieter months mean the occasional closed door mid-week. Weekends and half terms are your safest bet from October on.
