Short answer: On a wet day in Polperro, head for the Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing on the harbour (seasonal, roughly April to October; about £5 in 2026, bring cash), the Polperro Model Village (partly under cover, about £4 adults, closed Saturdays) and the free Polperro Arts Foundation gallery. Then dry off in the Three Pilchards or a tearoom.
Polperro is small, so a rainy day here is about doing a few good things slowly. Here's what works.
The Heritage Museum is in an old fish-processing warehouse on the harbour and covers smuggling, pilchard fishing and village life. It's seasonal, roughly April to October, open 10:30am to 4:30pm. A July 2026 visitor paid £5 per adult and suggested bringing cash. It closes in winter.
The Model Village on Mill Hill is a miniature Polperro, with the Land of Legend automata on the same site. Recent reviewers paid £4 for adults and £3 for children, and most visits take about 20 minutes. Google lists it as closed on Saturdays.
A free gallery of local artists' work, glass and ceramics on The Coombes, near the car park. Open 11am to 4pm daily. It's up a staircase, so not wheelchair accessible.
A small, rescue-focused wildlife park near Lanreath, about 6 miles inland, open 10:30am to 4pm daily. Much of it is outdoors, so it's better for drizzle than downpours. Check admission prices on its website.
