Short answer: A Polperro day out for two adults costs well under £50. Parking at Crumplehorn is cash only (visitors report about £7 for three hours), the harbour, coast path and arts gallery are free, and the museum and model village are a few pounds each in season. Both close for winter.
A Polperro day out for £50 or less is easy to do, as long as you plan around the one cost you cannot avoid: the car park. Parking is the biggest single bill, the harbour and coast path are free, and the paid attractions are small. The catch is that most of those attractions close for the winter, so this guide gives you a summer plan and a winter plan. It is written for two adults, and children are noted where they change the maths.
Here are the fixed costs we could confirm, with where each number comes from.
A lot. The harbour and quay cost nothing, and the walk down the valley beside the stream is the best free hour in the village. The Polperro Arts Foundation Gallery is in the Village Hall on The Coombes, is free to enter and is dog friendly, according to Proper Cornwall. Cornish Horizons lists it as open daily, 11am to 5pm in summer and 11am to 4pm in winter. A reviewer says it is up a staircase, so it may not suit a wheelchair. The coast path east towards Talland Bay is roughly a mile and a half to the beach cafe, and our Looe to Polperro walk covers the longer route to Looe. The harbour beach is sandy at low tide only and has no lifeguard, according to Visit Looe, so check tide times.
Here is a plan using the listed prices above. Check each before you go.
That is about £19 to £21 before food, leaving around £29 to £31 for lunch and a drink. That is plenty for lunch for two at a pasty shop or a pub if you pick carefully, and the next section shows how.
Menu prices change often, so none are quoted here. Look at the board before you order.
A reviewer at the Ship Inn called the seafood chowder with bread and butter excellent value, and said it contained a lot of seafood, which could be a lunch on its own. Polperro Bakery sells large pasties, including a steak and Stilton one that a reviewer rated highly, and Nanny Duck's sells pasties with vegetarian and vegan options. The Wheelhouse on Quay Road is a harbourside cafe with sandwiches, light meals and hot drinks, and a reviewer praised its vegetarian breakfast.
Tip: share a pasty and a chowder, and take a flask. The harbour wall is a fine place to sit.
Cheaper, and simpler. The Heritage Museum runs from April to October, the Model Village closes after 1 November, and the tuk-tuk is seasonal, so the paid attractions are gone. Parking is the same cash-only charge, according to reviewers. A winter plan could be:
That leaves most of the £50 untouched. The Polperro in winter guide lists what is open, and the rainy day guide has wet weather options.
Yes, because the best things are free and children are cheaper than adults at the paid ones. The Heritage Museum lets children under 16 in free, according to three guides, and the Model Village lists £2 for a child. Local guides describe the Model Village as including a model railway and the Land of Legend, which tells Cornish legends. Add a stop at Sweet Time of Polperro for sweets or Roly's Fudge Pantry on Fore Street for fudge, where reviewers praised the maple and pecan and the honeycomb. Treats are where budgets go astray, so agree an amount before you walk in. Our Polperro ice cream guide lists the ice cream options.
The only parking in Polperro is at Crumplehorn, so the options are to arrive another way. The 73 bus runs from opposite Looe station to the Crumplehorn stop in about 17 to 20 minutes, with around eight departures from Looe on the timetable valid from 24 October 2026. Check the fare with Go Cornwall Bus. Our guide to getting to Polperro without a car covers the bus and train options. You could also walk in from Looe, which Great Scenic Railways puts at about 5.5 miles on the coast path. Compare that with the Looe day out for £50 if you want to combine the two towns, and the Polperro guide has everything else.
