Truro Remembrance Sunday 2026: Parade and Cathedral

2026-11-03·Truro

Short answer: Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Truro City Council had not published its 2026 timetable when we looked; in 2025 there was an Act of Remembrance at the Boscawen Street war memorial at 11am, a wreath-laying and military parade from 2.30pm and a service at Truro Cathedral at 3.15pm. Armistice Day is Wednesday 11 November.

How to read this page. Where a council had published its 2026 programme when we looked, we say so. Where it had not, we give the 2025 programme and label it as a guide, because Legion branches and councils usually repeat the pattern but do change start times and routes. Confirm with the organiser the week before you travel.

When is Remembrance in Truro in 2026?

Remembrance Sunday is Sunday 8 November 2026 and Armistice Day is Wednesday 11 November. Truro City Council lists its Remembrance events under its Remembrance Day pages, but the 2026 timetable was not on the pages we could read on 3 November. The council's number is 01872 274766 (info@truro.gov.uk) for the route and any road closures.

The 2025 programme: the likely shape of 2026

Truro's day is unusual because the main parade is in the afternoon, not the morning. In 2025, according to Truro City Council, it ran like this:

The cathedral also holds a morning service. In 2025 its Remembrance Sunday Eucharist was a shortened Choral Eucharist in the nave, live-streamed from 10am to 10.45am, and it ended with a procession to the war memorial on Boscawen Street for the act of remembrance.

Where to stand

The memorial is on Boscawen Street, in the middle of the city's main shopping street, so the pavements either side fill early. For the afternoon parade, arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the wreath laying. High Cross, at the top of the route, is quieter if the street is crowded. The cathedral service is open to the public, but the nave fills for Remembrance, so allow time and expect to stand or sit at the back.

Parking and getting there

Truro is a busy city on any Sunday and the centre streets on the parade route close for a short time. Park on the edge and walk in, or come by train and walk up from the station. Our Truro parking guide covers the car parks and the park-and-ride, and it is worth reading before you set off.

Food and warmth afterwards

With an afternoon parade, lunch comes first. The best bet is a table booked before 1pm: see Truro Sunday roasts for places that serve on Sundays, and Truro pubs for somewhere to warm up afterwards. The wider day, filtered by who you are with, is on the Truro town page.

With children, dogs and wheelchairs

Children are welcome, and the two minutes of silence is the hard part for the youngest, so a quick explanation beforehand helps. Dogs on short leads are common at outdoor Remembrance events, but a barking dog during the silence upsets people. We have not found published access information for the 2026 Truro parade, so if you need a place to sit or a step-free viewing spot, ring the council on the number above before you go.
