Bodmin Remembrance Sunday 2026: Priory Park and St Petroc's

2026-11-03·Bodmin

Short answer: Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Bodmin's morning begins early: in 2025 there was a wreath laying at the DCLI memorial at Bodmin Keep from 9am, an Act of Remembrance at the Priory Park war memorial at 9.45am and a procession to St Petroc's Church. The Armistice Day observance was at 10.50am at Shire Hall, Mount Folly. We have not seen the 2026 timetable.

How to read this page. Where a council had published its 2026 programme when we looked, we say so. Where it had not, we give the 2025 programme and label it as a guide, because Legion branches and councils usually repeat the pattern but do change start times and routes. Confirm with the organiser the week before you travel.

When is Remembrance in Bodmin in 2026?

Remembrance Sunday is Sunday 8 November 2026 and Armistice Day is Wednesday 11 November. Bodmin's Remembrance is earlier than most Cornish towns, because the programme starts at 9am and the town's military connection runs deep: Bodmin Keep is the home of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry (DCLI) museum and memorial.

The 2025 programme (the guide for 2026)

These times come from the Cornish press listing for 2025. We have not seen 2026 times, so check with Bodmin Town Council or the local Royal British Legion branch. Because the sequence starts so early, arriving at 10.30am would mean missing the main act.

What to expect if it is your first Remembrance parade

A Remembrance parade is a walking procession of veterans, cadets, Legion branches and civic leaders, usually led by a band or a standard-bearer, ending at the war memorial. It is not a spectacle, and the mood is quiet. Stand on the pavement, keep conversation low during the silence and take your hat off if you wear one. Children are welcome: explain beforehand that there will be two minutes of quiet. Take a waterproof, because the services are outdoors, and carry coins for the poppy sellers, who take cards in some places but not all. If you need a seat or step-free access, ring the town council before the day and ask where a viewing space is possible.

Parking and getting there

Priory Park is in the middle of town and the roads around Mount Folly and Priory Road are busy on Remembrance Sunday. Arrive early and use a town centre car park, or walk in from the station side. For other things to do, the Bodmin town page lists attractions by who you are with.

Food after the service

Because the service ends before lunch, you can eat out the same morning. See Bodmin Sunday roasts and Bodmin pubs. If the weather is wet, the town has indoor options, and Bodmin Jail is the obvious wet-weather option.
