Philps Bakery is the village pasty shop — big, well-filled pasties at a few pounds each, from a name Cornwall has trusted for generations (the family bakery's roots are in Hayle, where the original still draws queues). There's no need to overthink it: this is where Marazion buys its pasties.
One rule: Philps here is closed on Sundays. Plenty of Sunday visitors have learned that the hungry way.
Across the road and onto the beach wall, facing St Michael's Mount. A hot pasty, the island, the tide coming or going over the causeway — it's one of the great cheap lunches in Cornwall. (Eat it before the gulls notice you have it.)
